[2024-07-18] Ban Ki-moon: Improving Global Governance to Achieve Health for All

On July 17th, Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) and the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, addressed the opening ceremony of the 3rd Conference of Global Health Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia at the National Convention Center in Beijing.

Ban Ki-moon stated that this session of the conference, themed “Health Beyond Health – In the Year of Sustainable Development 2030” features an impressive, productive, and forward-looking lineup of government, business, and opinion leaders. Artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, and life sciences hold promises for revolutionary changes to the field of health.

Ban pointed out that COVID-19 is a sobering lesson on the need and urgency of better global governance and closer global partnerships. This conference advocates a holistic and integrated approach for addressing global health challenges, and global crises can only be resolved through global responses.

He looks forward to the conference working together through closer partnerships, exploring feasible solutions, and taking practical steps for the good health & wellbeing for all people, at all ages and everywhere, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
