“The areas for Asia-Europe cooperation are limitless.”

Chairman Ban Ki-moon attended the second Asia-Europe Cooperation Dialogue as Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia on December 02, 2019 in Chongqing, China. The Asia-Europe Cooperation Dialogue was co-sponsored by the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), Chongqing Municipal Government, and the European House-Ambrosetti to promote comprehensive, in-depth, and high-quality cooperation between Asia and Europe. The focal points of the Dialogue lied within BRI and European Development Strategy, Financial Globalization, and Scientific and Technological Innovations.

More than 400 delegates including BFA Vice Chairman, former Governor of the People’s Bank of China Zhou Xiaochuan, former Prime Minister of Finland Esko Aho, BFA Secretary General Li Baodong, former Governor of the Central Bank of Kazakhstan Marchenko, chairman of HNA Group Chen Feng, Senior partner of the European House-Ambrosetti Paolo Borzatta were present at the event.

The main message of Chairman Ban’s speech at the opening was to convey “a stronger voice for multilateralism and an open world economy; more robust trade, investment and financial ties; closer cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative; collaborative innovation towards the next technological revolution.” In other words, he highlighted on the significance of multilateralism by stating that “I see the same urgency and confidence in reversing the trend of unilateralism and protectionism at this critical juncture of human history.”
